Jim McEwan Tasting Notes
Color - August Barley Fields
Aromas and flavors : Opens with a note of peat smoke with a marine opening that clearly indicates its country of origin. Malted barley notes blend beautifully with scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel and lemon, with vibrant echoes of smoldering peat fires fanned by Atlantic breezes. All leading to a magical duo between Martinique and the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It is a magical and rare spirit, with the character of two islands separated by thousands of miles that come together to become one!
Throughout the process, the smoky character of the peat bathes the spirit in total harmony with the crisp sweetness of Islay barley, add the spiced apples, almonds and molasses which provide an amazing platform on which the Islander can shine like a sunrise over the Islay coast.
It's a wonderful and rare spirit, when will we see it again!
