Tasting Notes by Jim McEwan

Aromas - Impossible to be mistaken about the origin of this warrior! Peat smoke blends beautifully with the sweet, crisp grain notes of Islay barley, all contained within a spicy halo from the first occupant of the cask which was toasted before being filled with bourbon. It's a strong young Ileach that transports your senses to the island of distilleries. The marine influence brings a magical halo around the peat aromas as they rise.

Palate - The viscosity of the eau-de-vie is astounding; no chill filtration, no coloring and this Islay pedigree, power, peat and passion! At 64.0%, it is at its best.

The sweetness of the barley blends beautifully with the sweetness of the oak and in the middle of the palate, it's pure harmony! The young spirit keeps the oak at bay, allowing smoky pear and apple flavors to emerge, washed down with a sweet malt extract.
