Tasting Notes by Jim McEwan
Body - Fresh as a June morning on the west coast of Islay. Beautiful texture that lingers long after the glass is empty.
Aromas and Flavors - Opens with lemon and honey drizzled with warm malted barley leading to an extremely pleasant combination of papaya, floral estuarine honeysuckle. Then the soft sweetness of oak drifts bringing with it the spiciness of Bourbon and the toasty oak sugars of its previous life.
Its super freshness and slow distillation provided the crispness of the malted barley that pairs beautifully with the unchilled, strained, uncolored alcohol giving a cool, uplifting mouthfeel.
Taste receptors are in heaven enjoying the natural flavor without a peat smoke drift. It's Islay in August. The whole opening of the island is in your hand, inhale deeply, sip slowly, close your eyes and come to the west coast where the Atlantic meets the shore! The finish is long and lingering thanks to the viscosity of the water cold unfiltered de vie.
