Jim McEwan Tasting Notes

Color - Luminous Gold / Daffodil Yellow Excellent Purity.

Nose - Smoky aroma of burnt heather, gently floats from the glass with a slight marine openness drawing you into a sweet spiciness from the bourbon cask.

It shows all the DNA of an island; salinity of the sea breeze and flowering heather leading to a drift of ripe fruit; apple, pear and melon.

A beautiful island opener all encapsulated in a cradle of peat smoke.

Palate - The combination of peat smoke, caramelized oak, luscious fruit, toasted grain, peppery spice and salty swell is absolutely magical. At this age, alcohol and oak are one.

The heat of the peat embers totally seduces the taste buds.

The oak, the barley, the coastal marine opening are on the same hymn sheet.

The Viking shows its true character! What more could you ask for!

Without the training of cold filtration or the use of E150, it reveals all its freedom!
