Tasting Notes by Jim McEwan
Body - Muscular, mellow and full of the joys of Islay character.
The nose - Brilliant opening on setting heather fires with a hint of spring undergrowth. Daffodils, snowdrops and ferns all encapsulated in a halo of peat smoke and mellow oak.
Pure magic! It's Islay in a glass and I would have loved to make whiskey in the old distillery but didn't get the chance. So I created this whiskey based on what I learned from my old friend Roderick McLeod who claimed to have tasted it. After having consumed a few glasses, he shared the magic recipe with me: "Jim, it was a good dram and I really liked it!" And that's it, no more info! So here is my version of how this whiskey would have tasted as I imagine it.
A good peated dram, enjoy and thank Roderick for his massive contribution! This is a rare whiskey and I hope the angels and Roderick enjoy their share!
The palate - Pure Islay from all points of view, it's marvelous and rare, just like Roderick McLeod was!
